Sanders Window Fashions is a unique retail shop, dealing in all types of custom window coverings. In 1942, the late Lester A. Sanders founded what has become a progressive business. Lester Sanders first sold and installed Venetian Blinds. After he developed this market, he began installing curtain rods and drapery hardware. As early as 1947, he was also a supplier of the basic window shade business. He was the first in the area to carry the ‘springless shade’, which has been replaced with a more sophisticated clutch roller system.
In 1967, as he saw growth in the area, he saw the need for custom window treatments such as draperies and sheers. He decided that he would offer free estimates and free installation to customers, which is a tradition that still exists today.
In 1970, as his business kept growing and the demand increased, his son Art joined with him to help meet the demand for his products. In 1976, Art’s Wife Bonnie joined the business. She was responsible for fabricating and decorating ideas for clients.
In 1997, Art & Bonnie purchased their own building at 107 E. Main St. in downtown Lock Haven which has become one of the largest Window Fashions stores in central Pennsylvania.
